Linking up today for the 4th installment of “Boys Behind the Blog”. I doubt that JP enjoys these as much I do, but it’s fun to show off the man I love!
So, let’s hear from JP, gotta love his one liners :) He's an artist, not a writer!

Nursing a Cat Back to Health

On Saturday morning, I noticed that Ronnie was looking a little thinner than usual. I also noticed that he wouldn’t eat his treats and his food dish was still full. While he’s always been a finicky eater, I knew this wasn’t normal.

Ron’s “I’m mad” face a couple of years ago when we ran out of treats.

I wanted to give it a day or 2 to see if he would come around, but he still wasn’t eating. This morning, when I saw him just laying there and looking so weak and sad, I knew it was time for him to see the vet. The vet was definitely concerned when he saw how much weight he has lost. His body temperature was low also due to the fact that he doesn’t have enough meat on him to keep him warm. He took some blood and said that he was pretty certain that he has hyperthyroidism. I looked up the symptoms and Ron seems to have almost all of them. We will find out the results tomorrow.

This was a few months after I got Ron. He was being a rebel and somehow got on the counter. King of his castle.

I was so worried about leaving him today, but I had to go back to work for the afternoon. I was so happy to see that he was laying in his bag with the towel that we put in it. Ron always loves to sleep in brown bags which is why you will find a few random brown bags strewn across my house. He loves them too much for me to throw them out. I thought I would try to give him some milk to see if he would drink it. Ron loves his milk. I was happy to see him drink it.

Sweet kitty drinking his milk. He drank about half.

For now, I’m just trying to keep him warm and make sure that he at least drinks his water/milk/juice from his cat food. He licked up all of the juice from his food, but he still won’t eat the food. I hope we can find out how to help him tomorrow. I hate seeing my sweet kitty like this. He’s usually very vocal, but now he can barely squeak out a meow. It just breaks my heart. He’s moving so slow since he’s so weak.

I know he’s 16 years old and that these things happen, but I don’t want anything to happen to him. Any advice on how to get a cat to eat? Or any ideas on how he can get some nutrients? Have you been through anything like this before? I would appreciate any advice you have to give. Until then, please pray that my sweet boy will feel better soon!

Are you ready for some football? Vol.1

Warning: From now until the Super Bowl, Mondays will be dedicated to football. So, if you’re not into it, feel free to ignore me on Mondays. If you’re a normal human being (just kidding… sort of), then feel free to stick around on Mondays and let me know how your team did this weekend!

The best part of it is that Kristine from Living Barefoot and Crazy is hosting a link-up on Mondays too! I will be linking up, and if you’re just as obsessed with the sport as I am, you should go link up too! Got it? Alright, let’s get on with it.

Games I watched this weekend (or kept up with):

Wake Forest at Boston College – Wake continues to disappoint me. While they are in the same division as my Seminoles, I would still like to see them do well. They just couldn’t hang with BC. This team needs some offense! And well, some defense wouldn’t hurt either. Final Score: WF – 10 BC – 24

Florida at Miami – I love my Seminoles, so seeing our 2 rivals play against each other was just hard to watch. I didn’t want either one of them to win! However, I was slightly pulling for Miami. I think they have more talent on their team. How the heck was Florida ranked so high? Can we say overrated? Just because you’re in the SEC doesn’t mean you have to be ranked! You need to have the talent to back it up. Final Score: UF – 16 Miami – 21

Oklahoma State at UTSA – I have 2 other favorite football teams that I cheer for when FSU isn’t playing. Oklahoma State and Oregon. I was happy to see Ok State play their little hearts out. Note to self: don’t ever say that again when referring to football! I was excited to see that they were playing in the Alamodome. It also made me miss San Antonio. While I’ve only been there once, I fell in love with that city when we vacationed there in March. That’s a story for another time. Final Score: OSU – 56 UTSA – 35

A drive by photo of the Alamodome!

WKU at Tennessee – Tennessee is looking good so far this season! I hope they have a good year! Final Score: WKU – 20 UT – 52

MTSU at UNC – The Heels had a great game! They looked better than they did against the Gamecocks last week, but they still have some room for improvement. Final Score: MTSU – 20, UNC – 40

Oregon at Virginia – All I can say is that my Ducks continue to dominate! Quack Quack! Final Score: Oregon – 59 Virginia – 10

South Carolina at Georgia – I just can’t cheer for Georgia, and it’s fun to watch Steve Spurrier coach. I know I shouldn’t like him because he coached for the Gators back in the day, but I still like the guy. I was sad that the Gamecocks couldn’t pull out the win. Final Score: USC – 30 UGA – 41

Samford at Arkansas – Honestly, I thought the little Baptist school from my hometown would pull off the upset. However, Arkansas shattered my dreams. That would’ve been a HUGE win for the Bulldogs. Samford – 21 Arkansas – 31

Colorado State at Tulsa – This may have been the most exciting game of the day. No joke! Tulsa was down 27-17 to start the 4th quarter and came back to win in the last minute of the game. Final Score: CSU 27 Tulsa 30

Washington State at USC – It made my heart happy to see WSU beat USC. USC and Alabama are just 2 teams that I can’t cheer for. Final Score: WSU 10 USC 7

Patriots at Bills – My Patriots scared me! I thought for sure that we would lose the game, but they came back at the end. While I’m happy that my man EJ Manuel got a starting QB position for his rookie season, I can’t go against my team! Patriots 23 Bills 21

Gotta drink out of the Patriots tumbler!

Seahawks at Panthers – Oh Panthers… the home team. Not a good game, guys. You played MUCH better than that in the preseason. Get it together next week! Seahawks 12 Panthers 7

So there you have it! Now can you tell how much I love this sport? I don’t just watch my team, I watch a good variety of teams/conferences. Did I mention your team in this recap? What are you most excited about this football season? And if you’re obsessed like me, go link up with Kristine!

Friday’s Letters

Dear Blog Friends, sorry for disappearing again. I’m hoping this awesome new blog design will motivate me to blog more frequently. I miss it! While I’ve still been reading and commenting on your blogs, I lost motivation to create new posts. It’s so fun communicating with all of you, and I don’t want to lose that.

Dear Friday, well, you didn’t come without some drama. However, you were much better than Thursday.

Dear Erin, thank you so much for this beautiful design! I can’t say it enough! You’re awesome!

Dear people who think it’s fun to humiliate others, all I have to ask is why? Why can’t you just have compassion? Why can’t you put yourself in their shoes? Why can’t you think before you speak/act? The world would be a much better place if we could all build each other up instead of tearing each other down.

Dear chocolate chai latte, all I can say is YUM! Thanks for being the highlight of my terrible Thursday. I may have a new Starbucks favorite.

Dear pumpkin spice latte, I haven’t forgotten about you. I still love you too.

Dear Seminoles, I’m sad that you have the weekend off, but you deserve it after that awesome 41-13 win over Pitt on Monday night. I’m really looking forward to this season! Scalp ‘em!

Dear football, I’m so happy to have you back in my life!

Dear germs, please do not enter my body. I know everyone else around me is sick, but that doesn’t mean that I have to be too! I’d like to stay well, please and thank you!

Dear sunshine, you have been amazing this week! We’ve gone all week without rain which has to be some kind of record for this summer. Keep it up!

Hello blurry Blackberry (RIP) pic! So glad I have an iPhone now.

Happy weekend, friends! Photobucket
